Have Questions? Pet Medication Information

by admin on January 6, 2010

If you have questions about your pet medication, it’s important that you’re able to get answers. You don’t want to take the chance of actually harming a pet with the medication that was supposed to help him. If your veterinarian isn’t available to answer your questions, it’s great to know that you’ve got a place to turn to, so you don’t risk harm to your four-legged friends.

Find Out About Your Pet’s Medication

Rather than just take the medication your vet gives you – or you buy elsewhere on your vet’s advice – and blindly give it to your pet, take the time to ask questions about it. You don’t want to give your pet something dangerous or a medication that he doesn’t need or isn’t right for him. Vets are human and can overlook things, so you should be your pet’s advocate.

Don’t Be Afraid To Ask Questions

Your vet, along with a lot of resources on the Internet, are there to help you. You don’t have to go it alone, and you should never be afraid to ask questions. There’s no stupid question, and there’s no reason to feel uncomfortable asking if you don’t understand something. Your pet’s health and safety is too important to ignore.

Use Only Approved Medications

Don’t use medication that you aren’t sure about. Your vet will tell you what medication you should be giving to your pet. If you’re not sure about it, get a second opinion rather than choosing to make changes on your own. It’s important that you follow doctor’s orders with your pet, just like you would do with your own health.

As with any health issue make sure you understand the condition, the medication, and the risks and benefits of taking that medication. It’s just as important to your pet as it is to you.
